Finch
wipe out any reporting hassles with our solution
Overview
Finch reporting solution is a Flexible and Incredibly Handy solution designed to address the daily reporting hassles that most of telecommunications companies go through every day. It takes indeed time for engineers to collect and process huge files containing the network performance metrics that are critical to keep the network above the Customer's expectations and comply with the regulator requirements
This product aims therefore at making ready the precious KPI in a few minutes through a few number of mouse clicks. Standards reports that give the picture of network behaviour on a daily basis for the previous day can be quickly generated every morning using this product
Simply put, once you have this product at hand, you forget about all the reports generation hindrance and focus on planning the actions to reverse the possible problems marvelously highlighted by this tool.
The beauty is that the reports are generated by region and detail the KPI per cell for the specific cell Busy Hour, along with the weighted KPI average for 24 hours. In addition, the network performance is appraised through quantification (count and percentage) of the number of cells meeting the different KPI thresholds bands.
With the very fierce competition prevailing in the telecommunications industry, this product is of great importance as it will equip you with the required tool to keep your network quality at the top and consequently contribute to keeping your business thriving
Moreover, a daily updated historical evolution of the KPI on both Busy Hour and Full Day basis is generated. Furthermore, periodical reports on a weekly, monthly, or even any specified period are taken care by this product. This constitutes a great relief for the engineers who are always under pressure to produce timely various daily and periodical reports.
For the regulators, it is a great tool to ease their mission of assessing the operators' network quality to make sure they comply with the requirements and agreed objectives Finch has been upgraded to include the Revenue Assurance Modules.
Most importantly, this product extends its capability by availing an extremely efficient tool to carry out KPI analysis in a very flexible manner. KPI evolution per single, multiple, or all cells can be monitored in a very smooth manner for any specified period. An hourly KPI analysis is also provided.
Why Finch
Most of operators and regulators have already drive test tools and wonder what would be the pertinence to use or acquire Finch Reporting Solution. This section seeks therefore to emphasize on the difference and the complementarity of the 2 systems. It will first review the main services offered by the Drive Test tool equipment and will next revisit its limitations and will finally conclude by sharing the value added by FINCH to the operators and regulators in their missions particularly the ones pertaining to the quality of service management
Driver Test Main Function
The Drive Test Equipment helps the mobile operators and regulators to assess the networks coverage, capacity, and the quality of service offered by a mobile radio network.
As its name insinuates it, the measurements are continuously collected along the itinerary covered by the vehicle equipped with the drive test.
The collected raw data are thereafter treated in order to generate reports that will inform on: The coverage quality in the visited area determined by the intensity and the quality of the measured signals.
The connectivity and the sustainability of the calls. The coverage discontinuity will indeed systematically bring about the calls drops.
The interferences that are likely to affect the calls quality;
The definition of neighbor cells (handovers implementation) that will allow the call to continue when moving from one base station to another one
The confirmation of the geographic coordinates for the different base stations.
The assessment of the network performance achieved by different operators. This supposes that the Drive Test Equipment allows a simultaneous collection of measurements from several operators by accepting multiple SIMS.
Driver Test Limitations
The Drive Test Equipment cannot be a substitution to the quality of service tools because of the following limitations
The measurements are taken on a limited geographical area and for a precise period of time during which the measurements are taken
It is impossible to sketch the evolution of the quality of service on a given period of time
The assessed quality of service is only about radio access network and will be inadequate for one wishing to assess the quality of service for the other network elements such as the Core Network.
It is an expensive exercise which cannot be anyway undertaken every day, leave alone the necessity to cover all a country. It is generally initiated to deep investigate the network problems detected by classic quality of service tools such as “FINCH” proposed by Egalis.
FINCH Solution
The FINCH solution allows systematic measurements of a wide range of the network indicators, for all operators, and this countrywide.
Whilst the drive test equipment allows punctual measurement for a given geographical area and period of time. It is limited in the area where the drive test campaign is taking place and for the very moment of the measurement. FINCH allows operators and regulators to have every morning and for the last 24 hours the networks behavior.
It will be easy to know every time the degree of compliance of every operator vis-à-vis of the agreed and set quality of service objectives.
This is made possible thanks to panoply of reports, detailed and consolidated dashboards available for any given period: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.
FINCH does not pretend to replace the Drive Test Equipment. It rather intends to carry out the global primarily rough job of the Quality of Service appraisal, whilst the Drive Test Equipment will be solicited to second it, by further investigating the abnormalities detected thanks to FINCH or through customers' complaints.
